Just read this on the BBC site...

Funny old game
Just in case the tide of public opinion was beginning to turn, Manchester United have pulled another gem out of the bag to alienate the man on the street.
United's players have been banned from signing autographs outside their Carrington Moss training ground in case they are sold on for a profit.
The club say they are concerned by the amount of dealers who congregate outside the ground, get merchandise signed and then sell it.
A sign on a fence outside the ground reads: "Due to dealers profiteering from the sale of signed memorabilia via the internet etc, the players will no longer sign footballs or shirts."
In a statement, United said: "This decision has not been taken lightly and we sincerely apologise to our genuine supporters."
Maybe they're just covering up the fact that some of their players can't actually write.

Not good sport imo.
I remember collecting loads of autographs outside grounds etc.
