Oh please no, you had to bring it up... It wasn't just set in Wirral, it was set in Meols, my very own corner of it. The house they used for most of the filming was about 300 yards from my front door. The subtleties of that sitcom were lost on the population at large, unfortunately. Malcolm summed up far too many Wirral people I know rather too well, and as for his mother ... well all I can say is, there really is a Leasowe Lighthouse Preservation Society.
