Re: Leaving ntl

Good luck with the new job, whatever it is, it's got to be better than ntl. I have been working for them since 1992, well it was nynex then, then it changed to cable and wireless, then to ntl. I wonder who will take it over next. I do know that they are not the most honest company in the world, they even rip off their employees.
I had been a customer of ntl for 4yrs when recieved an email from some bird saying that she had been going through the records and found that I was not paying by DD, and that if I wanted to keep the 50% discount I would have to give her my bank details. I politely replied that I did not feel comfortable with ntl having free reign with my bank account and declined the offer. "Well" she says, "we will have to charge you full price then". I told her I would rather cancel my subscription, than pay double for a service that I considered a load of old rubbish. Well we will have to charge you full price for the last month then, she said. Why? says I, after all am I not still an employee, I have not left the company. Company policy she said. I ain't paying it I said, I don't care what it is. A couple of weeks later I recieved a bill for £90, for services that never cost more than £20. I rang the bird up and told her in no uncertain terms that I would not be paying the 90 quid and to poke it where the sun doesn't shine. I also tried to send an e-mail Aisid Hussian but had the mail returned to me as it couldn't be delivered. Bloke problably doesn't even exist. Bottom line is, the robbing s.o.b's took £106.86 out of my wages to pay for the bill.
So they bent me over and shafted me in the end anyway.
I felt like handing in my notice but I have nearly 12 yrs service under my belt now, and if they want me to go they will have to pay me to go. I made that mistake when I left BT in 1988, 4yrs short of release '92 and a small fortune.
Chin up everyone, it could be worse. But not much.
