icmp ping is down for the server above..

I have software running that checks all the NTL servers. Pop, Smtp, Proxy, Time server and both dns servers. It just alerted me via email about the ping down !!!!

Doh !! just checked the status page - NTL mail servers will be down whilst the engineers have a tea break
