Fantastic! This problem has been driving me mad. I was pretty certain that the ports weren't blocked by NTL or my firewall as I could telnet to them from outside the NTL network... It never occurred to me that bittorrent would use the proxy settings from Internet Explorer (or is this just another example of how IE is intimately linked with Windows, despite the court rulings?).
