well, actually even during normal browsing most browsers will use multiple connections to fetch information, admittedly they can only get, for example, a single html file on one connection, but they tend to use a second ( or more ) connection(s) to retrieve images etc, if it is a frameset or similar then each page in the frameset can use a differnet connection.
