broadband takes off in the uk 54mbps coming soon
as the continuing trend of broadband compaines signing up users gathers pace in the uk BT is stepping up rollout of its broadband service to a further 500 exchanges
47% of uk households are connected to the net though 81% are still on dialup while 17% are on broadband the report goes on to mention new ways of providing broadband through electricity supplys but from the end of septemeber a new company called rural broadband will be setting up a wireless service at 54mbps for only £10 per month aimed at the business end of the market the service may take on home users http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3055389.stm also another intresting story of how ethernet data networks which could provide electricity as well as broadband on the same links http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3054894.stm |
17 percent on BB already and things slow down sometimes, imagine if the figure was the other way about. I wonder if one day we'll be begging to go on Dial up just to do a bit of surfing.:)
The electricity/BB sounds interesting, I wonder if it will catch on? Or indeed make any sort of impact at all? |
