Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
I cancelled my cable TV in December 2003 between the 8th and the 12th, i was disconnected on the 11th of January and the STB collected accordingly on the same day (receipt to prove)
So me sits there thinking well thats that and thanks god..............OH NOOOOOO my next bill arrives and yep you've guessed it.......i have been charged for another month  I rang CS up and i had NTL's faithful/honest promise that my next bill would be credited blah blah blah, I have just received my bill and yet again I have been charged up until 19th of March 2004   I have just been on the phone talking with a guy called Kieth on ext 637, who promised me he would phone me back  within the next couple of days (Wednesday or Friday (he's off work on Thursday)) because he has had to email the right department with my details and so forth. Would it be possible for some nice person on here to possibly speed up this process, because I'm just about p1ssed off with NTL and if this doesn't get sorted "SOON" i will cancel my phone and BB as well. Thanks :):) |
Re: Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
This is the usual story of ntl and their "taking ownership" of a problem. I wouldn't worry about the bill in the slightest, and please whatever you do, don't get worked up.
A simple completion of the complaints form on the Ofcom website and you can sit back and relax. Ofcom can sort it out with ntl and you can just wait for a letter to arrive. As long as you have the cancellation letters and collection receipt then you have nothing at all to worry about. |

very true , but if it was an elderly person or someone without all their mental faculties ( i tried hard not to be discriminatory there ) it will very likely cause undue anguish and worry , they really need to get there act together to stop this sort of thing happening , the more ppl who complain to ofcom the better in my opinion  |
Re: Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
I'm not sure about the more people that complain the better, but I suppose it will give ntl a good kick up the arse that they need.
The reason I suggest complaining to Ofcom is because ntl don't like Ofcom complaints as it affects their statistics and so they tend to act rather quickly when you complain that way. I think that making a complaint via Ofcom is easily the least stressful method of getting your problem dealt with. This is not to mention the fact that you may be elderly and find it difficult sorting this "rubbish" out with ntl, that they themselves are 100% to blame for. Nothing has changed becuase every bloody month we see case after case like this  |
Re: Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
well i do think the more ppl that complain for genuine complaints the better , like you said , ntl dont like ofcom , hopefully the more complaints the better chance of ntl sorting it's act out sooner rather than later

i dont suppose it can hurt to wait a couple of days , and then if you dont get sorted , give em hell  |
Re: Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
It's not a matter of 'not liking' OFCOM. Customers have a right to refer complaints to OFCOM and no-one would ever have a problem with that.
It shouldn't be left to get to this stage though. OFCOM will require that the normal channels have been exhausted though. I regularly deal with customers who tell me they have written to OFCOM before they even contacted ntl! That's nuts, and OFCOM will usually refer them straight back again. |

If this was me I would send them one more letter and ignore all further bills from them for the TV service (should they continue). I would not worry about it, or bother calling them again. Should I receive a bad credit rating, I would sue ntl for damages (and I would win). |

I will wait until Friday and if no phone call comes my way (Knowing NTL, it probably won't) then I will write another letter, send it recorded delivery and keep the receipt thing as proof and then take it from their. I am open to any more suggestions. Many thanks :):) |
Re: Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
I wouldn't wait until Friday m8, I would write your letter and get it sent off ASAP. That way there is no delay on your part if/when you take it further at a later date.

He told me (and promised me  ) that my next bill would be credited by £95.xx Only about 4 more weeks to wait until we see if his word is true or not ? Thanks again for the info and replies regarding this matter, and as always, it's more than appreciated :):) |
Re: Cancelled Cable TV - or at least I thought I had
