Cable Modem and Windows XP NTFS

I have recently converted my harddrive from FAT32 to NTFS. Now on boot up my ENET disconnects. A rather strange remedy is to wiggle the cable in the back of the modem until the ENET ligh comes back on! Any ideas as it used to be fine with FAT32.

Many thanks.

  I cant see that having anything to do with the file system. Have you tried a different patch cable...

FYI - I have found that the RJ45 connector on the back of my SCM is a bit iffy !!!

A faulty port on the back of Ambit modems is a known issue (rare but known). If you have tried another ethernet cable to no avail then you might want to ring tech support.

Odd that it happened after a hard drive update though.

Not sure of modem name(AMBIT maybe). It has NTL:Home 100 on the base. I have tried three cables, all react the same. The ENET light will be on at shut down and will remain on but as soon as the XP screen appears on boot up it switches off. The "wiggling" of the cable came from NTL Customer Services!

The modem does function correctly, it's just a pain in the backside having to remember to "wiggle" the cable and with the modem not being in easy reach I curse alot!

Ummm this brings back memories...

We used to get cut off all the time....finally an engineer came oot and spotted the transformer - as in mains plug into the ambit 100 modem  ... Haha he chortled and disapeard to his van returning NOT with a new modem as I'd hoped....but with a new plug...the third in a year....:D

Look he exclaimed proudly, this plug has a sticker on it that says NEW...there's a known fault you know with some of these plugs....

And off he went....we don't get cut off anymore, just the nightly hassle of high ping kicks and super low download rates...can'thave everything I suppose!

Hope this helps!
