GU15 - cable modem service down ?

Is it me or is the cable modem service up the shoot tonight.

All the lights are on OK on the cable modem and the data light is flashing, but I have no public IP address and my router says service is disconnected.
Router sends DHCP discovery every 10 secs but says cannot find DHCP daemon.
(I have tried repowering the modem a few times).

(I'm on dial-up right now).

OK, forget it. I'm back on.

Turns out my router firewall doesn't like NTL and won't allow the DHCP discovery to succeed if I have it enabled. Silly firewall.

Yes its me.

Ta.

I guess its a point worthy of note for other router users.

Router is a SMC2804WBR 54G wireless router. Firewall enabled appears to prevent DHCP discovery to ISP. Its OK to enable the firewall after the Public IP has been aquired. (Maybe its the discard ping to WAN doing it - I dunno).
