Only 1 pcmcia port but need 2

Hi, my brother has a laptop and it only has 1 pcmcia port, he needs another.

He has his wireless network card in one, and wants to plug in his CF Converter at the same time.... Is it possible to get a pcmcia card that sort of goes to a pcmcia hub???

Or could he get a USB pcmcia module or something?

Any links?

Thanks

You'll probably be better off going for a 7-in-1 USB Card reader (oir just a CF one if that really is all you need), especially as you mentioned a USB pcmcia module - obviously you have a USB Port free

I agree. I've never seen a USB to PCMCIA adaptor - and, I would suggest, you are unlikely ever to find one. The cheapest solution would be a USB to Compact Flash (or multiple flash card) adaptor.

Hint - get a Lexar Pro CF card and it comes complete with a JumpShot USB reader. ;)

That looks like it, gives you an extra PCMCIA slot running off your USB

More info here:
http://www.envoydata.com/fdusb.htm

It'll only read/write to ATA flash cards (and presumably, with an adapter, Compact Flash too). If you wanted to stick any other PCMCIA card in then you'd have to write a driver for it. The only other way would be to write a driver to 'capture' all PCMCIA accesses by the PC and squeeze them over USB - not a task for the faint hearted!

Easiest and cheapest to stick to a basic USB to CF adapter - they're cheap as chips these days.

Poo, as in a sign of frustration that it won't do the job and give a second pcmcia slot
