If you Floppy Disk Drive is Knackard is it possible to still format your machine and reinstall windows from the CD Drive if it is how do you do it please

What version of windows is it? WIndows XP has a bootable CD but you can download CD images that are boot disks that you can work from.

Make sure bios is configured to boot from CD before hard drive.
Put CD in drive, reboot PC, when prompted hit the key to boot from CD and follow the instructions on screen

yeah, i've formatted and re-installed Win98SE without having to touch the floppy boot disk before. Provided your BIOS is set to try booting via the CD drive before the HDD, you shouldn't have any problems.
