Wireless Network causing odd sounds

This is going to sound bizarre I know but every now and again my PC (if the speakers are turned on) makes a "purring" sound for a second or two, then it's back to silence. I'm convinced it's something to do with my wireless network but then my laptop never does it. I have a wireless ADSL router plugged into a filter along with my DECT phone's base unit, the phone stays up with me next to my machine, a while back I managed to bust the aerial for the wireless PCI NIC and ever since then it's started making this noise, I know DECT operates on similar frequencies but I don't know what's causing this sound, it's not life threatening or anything but it's getting annoying now. Is it possible that somehow the cabling for the speakers or something is picking up some form of waves from my wireless network? Or could it be the DECT phone? Sorry it's a bit vague but any help would be appreciated.

Sounds more like the phone to me, signing in with the base station every so often. Lapstop should be a bit better screened, that the usual leads to external PC speakers.
Doesn't account for timing of problem though
Switching the phone off would confirm it !
