Re: new computer
the 4100 supports usb. usb drivers can be found from motorola here. There are also some instructions on how to install the drivers.
if its enet or a SB3100 then just make sure everythings configured to connect via LAN. |
Re: new computer
All you should need to do is reboot the modem if you connect via Ethernet this is to allow the modem to tie itself to the new NIC.
If you were using USB and want to continue using USB all you will need is the usb drivers detailedf above. (May not even need those as XP should have them built in anyway I think) Either way you won't need to use the NTL CD to re-register as the modem is already registered on the network. Any probs though just post back with any error messages you get. |

First off assuming you have an ethernet port on the new PC all you will need is a RJ45 cable (Should have been supplied along with the modem when it first arrived) If not you can pick one up for just a few quid at any PC store. Connect up the RJ45 between the Modem and PC and reboot the modem by powering it down for a few mins then turning back on with the PC on during this process. With luck that is all it should take as XP will pretty well sort the rest out for you automatically. Any problems just post back and we can walk you through anything else you need. EDIT: I see th'engineer has already procided a link so have a quick read through that first as it covers all the bases in more detail. |
