Sending Email to some NTLWorld Accounts
I am suffering a strange problem. I use MS Outlook as my mail client, and it works absolutely fine ...
.... except for some emails that are sent to a xxx.yyy@ntlworld.com address. Emails to zzz@ntlworld.com always work absolutely fine - its the two part name it sometimes objects to (and yes the address does exist!) It will not send the mail out, the delivery failure message states "The message could not be sent because on of the recipients was rejected by the server. Server response: '550 Invalid recipient <xxx>'. (Account 'Peter', SMTP Server: smtp.ntlworld.com', Error Number: 0x800ccc79)." Outlook is set up so that outgoing mail is sent through "smtp.ntlworld.com" Anyone got any ideas?? |

Re: Sending Email to some NTLWorld Accounts
Have you tried an alternative SMTP server?
Try "smtp.virgin.net" , if not I'm sure one of the other guys can give you a working SMTP address, the other one I use requires authentication :( |
Re: Sending Email to some NTLWorld Accounts
ISPs won't allow you to send via their SMTP server, unless you are connected via their network (this is to stop spam)
You can receive via a different POP server, but not send via another SMTP server. |
Re: Sending Email to some NTLWorld Accounts
I thought you were supose to use your local SMTP server to send all your mail everything, and collect your mail from the respective POP servers!!
You live and learn  |
Re: Sending Email to some NTLWorld Accounts
I also thought you had to send using your own ISP.
But I tried sending my current problem message through the Virgin SMTP, but that didn't work. I sent the email to a (non-NTL) account and that did work as did a xxx@ntlworld.com account |
