Skype Phones (no PC) on NTL?

I am thinking of getting a Skype Out service. To ring USA & other places, I have used Skype (FREE) for year or so. But with a Headset :p:

I have £24.99 NTL 4MB Line & a Safecom Wireless Router (eBuyer). Can I get a Skype phone that wont use USB? ie I can ring out without PC on?

I dont fancy spending £100+ lol. I did see 1 item like a new Wireless Router & Phone £159 :disturbd: Do they sell a Phone I can connect to my Router (Cat 5 Cable)? or any other ideas??

you can get a normal phone and plug it into the linksys pap adaptor if you use sipgate - not sure if it works on skype though. check out broadbandbuyer for ip phones.

Depending on where you're calling it may be cheaper to look at an indirect call provider like 1899.com or one of the 0871 providers.

Check here:

....for all the info you should need. :)

I thought Skype was CHEAP.....
Now I just noticed USA (Landline) £ 0,014 (ie 14p) I thought it was 0.14p

Is that 14p? or 1.4 p?

1.4p

But you can phone for 0.5p per min with 18185 or free (other than the cost of calling an 0207 number) with teletop, Take a look at Martins site above :)

I'm pretty sure your computer has to be switched on and connected to the internet to use Skype.

I'd be interested to know how you get on with it.

So far 2x Calls to Canada, its Awesome. No PC needed & Great Quality...

Only DOWN side is Setup. No Instrution Book in the Phone Box, so I went to Sipgate site & had to DIG out the Help Files. Basically you enter the Phone's IP Address (found in Menu system of Phone) & type it in Browser on PC. Enter the Username & Password assigned to you for your Sipgate Account (they know how much credit you have left) & select UK Time Zone & Click ReBoot Phone Button. All settings are SAVED & Phone is Active

I've been using sipgate for the last 12 months.
