Bad connection Nottingham
 

Hi,

Can anyone tell if there is a problem around the Beeston area in Nottingham?

I can connect, with or without my router but the speed is extreamly slow. I normaly play Starwars galaxies which is online and I use voice comms called Ventrilo, neither of these are working due to the speed of my connection.

I have tried a different proxy address and different DNS servers and this has made some improvment to web based browsing but the applications i mentioned ealier have not changed.

I tried calling NTL fault line but what ever option i choose i get a dead tone on the phone, which has given me phone rage!!!

Anyone help please?

I tried a tracert to microsoft.com and got these results, there where 8 or 9 time outs after the last entry.

These ping times seem very slow or is this what i should get?

You (like most people in your area) are probably on an oversubscribed UBR. :rolleyes:

Hmm. I get pretty much the same, but don't really experience problems browsing. (Can get onto the microsoft site without problems)

I use this connection most nights to play Starwars and use voice comms. I very very rarely have problems other then the DNS issues everyone had a month or so ago.

Something is wrong here, not sure if its with my cable modem box or not. I've tried my laptop and get the same problems. So unless hundreds of new users have apeared over night i doubt its that my UBR (whats that?) is over subscribed.

Wish there was an easy way of sorting things with NTL. Some times i would rarther stick pins in my eyes then deal with NTL CS.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I notice that microsoft.com resolves to different ip addresses for you and me. Could we be accessing a different DNS server?

Just guessing here, to be honest, but you never know ;)

there is a known fault in Nottingham at the moment..unsure if resolved yet... can't see it on the Status Page though :rolleyes:

I wish I could use a different ISP but as far as I know NTL are the only ones offering cable in my area.

I don't think Iâ₠¬ÃƒÆ’¢â€žÂ¢ve ever seen such an appalling customer service as NTL. It's always been this way and I doubt it will ever change.

Browsing & d/ls are the pits in North East Lincs tonight - Nottingham franchise. Tried changing proxies with only marginally better results.

You really are on a one man mission to sl*g off NTL in favour of Pipex arn't you.

Out of interest, how many BB customers does pipex have ?

(FYI, I am on the Nottingham franchise and my service is just fine, one failure in 2 years).
