NTL broadband issue
I moved house from an NTL area to NTL area, and transfered my services, the engineers diddnt turn up to install my services on the 16-sep, so re-arranged for 7th oct (also cancelled tv + phone in anger - but thats another story) I am keeping the broadband.
The new property had ntl previously, I plugged in my cable modem from the old house to see what would happen, it worked, and I could surf. The question I am asking is are lines (houses) tied to modem MAC's ? i.e. can you only use one registered modem per line?? or can you use any active NTL modem (with valid MAC) on an active NTL line?? I dont know if I am using my line or the previous owners (ntl customer service wernt making sense) cheers! |
Re: NTL broadband issue
I'm pretty sure the modem's MAC address is tied to your line as when you move house you have to register the modem. Also, I had to clone the modems MAC address to get it to work with my router (although that was with the older silver modem, when I got my new blue one I had to clone my NIC's MAC address)
