Can't get NTL, their green box is 20 metres away!

Well, NTL arrived today to install their 10mbit line. The 2 engineers just knew straight away that I wouldn't be able to have the installation.

The green box for NTL is a stones throw away from my house, and the house wiring finishes 2 houses away! You can imagine how dissapointed I am.

I already have 8mb ADSL which gives me about 1800kbit for £30 a month.

The engineer told me that he has been to my road several times already with the bad news that those left on the end of the road won't be able to have their installation.

Is there anything I can do to persuade NTL to complete the house wiring another 20 metres or better yet to complete it for the end of the road to 15 or so houses? I'm not the only one who would buy their services.

Yours,
Steve. :(

:welcome: to the forum.

Are those 15 houses rented? If they are, then NTL has to seek permission from the Landlord to install cable. If they don't have permission, they can't.

BTW, I have removed your google maps link. We generally advise forum users NOT to post any personal details on a public forum, as you have no idea who may read it.

Re: Can't get NTL, their green box is 20 metres away!

Thankyou Stuart. You are correct the houses I live in and those around me are all rented from a private housing association.

I have just sent an email to them asking if permission would be granted if NTL were to request it.

I don't have any hopes that NTL would lift a finger for new installation, but no harm in trying. :p:
