CM problems Nottingham?

ive been experiencing problems since about thursday.

i have my modem in wireless D-LINK DI-624 router, and connect to router via D-LINK DWL-G520 pci card

everything has been fine for two months, not had any issues..then all of a sudden my wireless vanishes after about 20 mins. Unplug router, back on, same again.

I thought my router was broken, so replaced today, same model. Everything was fine for few hours, then wireless dropped again.

My CM doesnt seem to diconnect, though its in another room so dont watch it.

Anyone else experience similar issues?

cheers

P

It might be a pain in the bum, but the only way you're going to be able to rule out a problem with the router would be to plug your pc directly into the modem for a similar time to see if it maintains the connection.

If you drop connection then possible issue with the signal to the modem, but if it stays on then it could be another faulty router, or the router and modem don't like each other.

yeah, i thought about moving the pc temporarily to rule that out. i dont think it will be two faulty routers though..and it worked fine for two months so the only way the modem and router hate each other is if NTL have been updating stuff recently....

That's possible but I haven't seen anything about issues in Nottingham or any changes that would cause your connection through the router to drop.

If you PM me your mac address I can have a look and see what the uptime on the modem is and do a general check of the line - save you a call to TS ;)

Connection fine here fwiw - Mapperley UBR

Sun, 14 Dec 2003 20:50:43 UTC
1st 128K took 1844 ms = 71080 Bytes/sec = approx 591 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 1797 ms = 72939 Bytes/sec = approx 607 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 1813 ms = 72296 Bytes/sec = approx 602 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 1812 ms = 72336 Bytes/sec = approx 602 kbits/sec

Which UBR are you on, sirp? Nottingham has a few, altho it sounds like its not the connection dropping @ the modem from what you say.

Hope it fixes itself :)

connection has only dropped once since 5:37..but droppingonce is a pain..im not sure what the issue is..no reason why my wireless gear should stop working 100 percent....

on the router i took back today, the WLAN light stop flashing meaning wirelass was out....the new router, when the connection dropped, the WLAN light was still active

maybe my wireless pci card is a bit dodgy? maybe i should take that back to pc world next? because im a bit bemused

only other change to pc is my graphics card..but surely that will not interfere?

Do you have anyone nearby with a 2.4Ghz videosender?

That's exactly the problem I have until/unless I switch mine off - or move the lappy.

Can you check your power levels and return path on the modem. Might be worth checking they are OK with the recent cold snap NTL products like temperate conditions not to hot not to cold or you get disconnects.
