Could this be enough to stop people from using the underground services such as Soulseek, Limewire, etc...?

It depends... What are ad-supported downloads? View ads while you download? Download mp3s with ads in them? Get popups when you play music you got from their site? Or is it ad-supported streaming?

I would think they'd need quite a bit of advertising to make it profitable, and I'm not very keen on ads. Mind you, I hardly download music anyway (just the odd track). I prefer to buy the cd...

Unless, of course, someone finds out a way to do so.
