New Wiring
Hi
I hope someone can help, I am having an extension onto my home and want to future proof certain elements now in order to save in the long run. At the moment I am comfortably transcoding very large video files (max size 2gb) from my Windows Media Centre PC to my Xbox360 extender using HomePlug 85 (never get 85mb, usually 40mb) which utilises the internal wiring of my home and gives me net access from any socket. With the emergence of services like IPtv, VoIP and VOD etc. I want to ensure that I install cabling up to these and other tasks. Can anyone recommend a source for information on suitable cabling or indeed any advice on this subject matter. Thanks very much, in advance :). Matt |

The trouble is that technology moves on so fast that whatever you install now, could be outdated by tommorrow. I would suggest your best option would be to install a load of ethernet cables, back to a common point. Double up on each cable to each location allowing you to use a PC, phone or whateveras required. Biggest difficulty is choosing the location. Inevitably that will be wrong as you move your furniture around. |
