wireless router with QOS....
 

I am looking for a standard wireless router that has QOS, anyone got any ideas? :)

Or

Does anyone have one they can recommend?

Linksys WRT54G's have QoS, although it would depend what exactly you want it to do..

Are you sure they come with QOS as the spec sheet does not mention QOS on any site I visited?

I use voip so need priority given to my pap2.

I currently have a Linksys BEFSR41 V4 and that is great but it ain't wireless. however the BEFSR41 V1, V2 & V3 do not come with QOS or so I read!

Is it the same for the WRT54G's? As I can see there is also several versions available, the latest being V6.

Does anyone have a WRT54G with QOS and if so what version do you have?

With my USB card about 15m away through 2 solid interior walls and a floor it's not fantastic... However, with the Belkin PCI-Card i had lying around it was always at "Very Good" never tried it much furthur tbh.

The Belkin card died a horrible death btw, tis why it's no longer in use.

Thanks for that, I will be using it to connect my laptop in my livingroom, My cable modem is in the back bedroom so it will have to go through two solid walls and the floor.

Will get it from argos that way any problems I can take it back for a refund! :)

Your house is basically the backwards layout of how i have mine setup, so hopefully it will all work fine then :D

You should grab this LINKSYS WRT54GSUK & WUSB54GS SPEEDBOOSTER 125g quickly as it's on offer again and all for £49.99. :)

Whats better to use, the WUSB54GS or the WMP54GS. It's just I remember the whole "ethernet is better then usb" in regards to the actual modem, so Im wondering if an internal pci card is better then a usb one.

PCI is infact better as the USb uses general system resources... For example when i hit 100% CPU usage i lose my wireless connection with my USB adaptor... On my PCi one (which is now sadly departed... :( ) is used to stay connected :)

I haven't experienced the disconnection issues you mention with a WUSB54G - but one advantage of the USB device is it can be moved around for better reception (USB cable 1 Metre+ approx).

The downside is the antenna: Eth=5dbi, USB=2dbi

Mine is a cheap Zydas chip though, so that's possibley the reason... ;)

And i have to agree, when i finally get round to fitting a new PCI card to my sisters Compy (25metres away from the WRT54G and suffering) it should pick up a signal stronger than "weak", or, that's the plan :p

You can update the firmware on pretty much any 54G to include QoS. Mine is a upgraded version 2.
