NTL sales phoned about 3 for £30

Just wondered if anyone has any opinions on the following?

I currently have 4mb broadband with NTL, which I'm £19.99 a month for. I'm a bit annoyed that a) they told me that my 2mb would increase to 10mb, but it has only gone up to 4mb, and b) that my discount only goes on for 6 months, and not the 12 that they used to. (I wasn't made aware of this fact when I took the deal up).

I also get half price telephone line rental (£5.50)

Anyway, yesterday NTL phoned me promoting the 3 for £30 deal. What appeals to me about it is that apparently it has no tie-in, you can cancel when you like. Which would get me out of the 12 month contract that I'm tied into at the moment.

The only incentive they've offered is that I'll get the free weekend and evening calls free for 3 months, and then they'll call me back to see if there are any other deals.

The downside is that the television is virtually useless. We have freeview at the moment and the only extras with NTL are the sky one channels.

So I have reasons to be cheesed off at them for the phone (mega problems getting the discount I was promised) and the broadband, but I'm not sure what other options there are out there to better NTL (we have a BT line which can be switched on.)

Another thing is what I've read about new customers getting free tv with their phone line, so this must be one of the reasons they're promoting this now.

Sorry to drone on, but does anyone have any opinions?

Because I'm tied into a 12 month contract. If you haven't got anything constructive to say, don't waste your precious time replying.

You can still leave, 12 month contract or no 12 month contract! :banghead:

OR

Why not just take the package that takes you off the 12 month contract then cancel??? :p:

But let me guess you are infact happy with your products but just want some advice on how to screw them for a better deal! ;)

You're right, I've already screwed them but not hard enough, I'm peed off at myself! I'm not convinced that I can cancel without being charged for the next however many months I have left though.

Although the 3 for £30 package has no tie-in itself, moving onto it will not get you out of your initial 12 month contract. In otherwords, you can change to the 3 for £30 package within your initial 12 months and you are not tied to keep that package (i.e. you can downgrade at any time). However, you would not be able to completely cancel all services within the initial 12 months.
