Strange ntl phone bill totalling over £120!!!
I am a student, and use the 3 for £30 service with ntl as i thought it would be good value for money (how wrong i was, ive never dealt with a more incompitent company!!!)
As it is a student home, and now summer it is hardly occupied. On a visit to the house, my housemate opened a bill from ntl and discovered there was a phone bill totalling over £120!!! to strange numbers and places such as pakistan and unknown mobile numbers etc. I know for a fact it wasnt any of us, or our landlord (he is the only other person with access to our house) because 1: we all have mobiles and hardly ever use the house phone even when we are living there, 2: None of us have been in the house to make calls at the dates and times specified on the bill and 3: Our landlord is from India, as is his family and is not particularly fond of Pakistan in general! Please can anone help, as I am the one responsible for the ntl account and so the money will be taken from me! I work hard for my money in the holidays, and that kind of money requires me to work at least 30 hours to earn!!! and I certainly dont want to line ntl's pockets with MY HARD EARNED money, or give someone else free calls at our expense!!!   |

:welcome: to Cable Forum :D
Have you spoken to anyone at ntl about this, and if so what have they said? |
Re: Strange ntl phone bill totalling over £120!!!
My housemate is going to phone them today, unfortunately the bill is delivered to my house in Leeds and not to my home address and I have not had a chance to look at it, he phoned me to tell me about the problem. I want it sorted as quickly as possible though, because the money is taken next week according to the statement. And from what i've seen on this site, ntl are very reluctant to give people refunds!:td:

You got no chance of NTL saying you don't have to pay it!

Re: Strange ntl phone bill totalling over £120!!!
Fortunately, we share the bills between the 3 of us, though thats still £40 each. When our 12 months expire, we are screwing ntl. Id rather pay to have a BT line put in than put up with them anymore, its a wonder they keep any customers. I will also be arranging a protest in freshers week outside their trailer if they dare set one up at our uni again this year!
Quite honestly, im tempted to just cancel the DD, but as we're still under contract i'd expect that to cause serious trouble for myself.:erm: |
Re: Strange ntl phone bill totalling over £120!!!
If you can prove that you were not at the premises on the dates affected (and it sounds like you can) then you would be in a very strong position to contest the telephone charges.
Mistakes do happen in billing and you have got nothing to lose by writing in to contest the calls made. If the bill is in your name your friend will not be able to do much by phoning them as they will refuse to talk to him under the Data Protection Act. |
