NTL or SKY Broadband
I currently have NLT Cable Broadband (4Mb) and I am paying £24/month
Sky digital are currently offering their customers 16Mb broadband for only £10/month What I want to know is that would I be better off switching to SKY ? OR Is Cable more reliable and is it worth the price difference even with lower bandwidth? NTL 4M service does not give true 4M but only 2.4Mb Can Sky Broadband be effected by the weather assuming they use sttelite service for download and phone line for upload (not sure how it works) |

So no, the weather won't affect it. |
Re: NTL or SKY Broadband
Sky is offering LLU ADSL (used to be Easynet).
First thing, check www.samknows.com to see whether your postcode has unbundled ADSL coverage and what speed (eg my address is in theory covered by Sky, but due to a 4KM run to the exchange I would only get 512Kb ADSL :( ) If you are within range of an LLU exchange, the Sky offer is for Sky Digital customers and you need a BT phoneline. You need to cost up BT Line rental, Sky installation and TV package, Sky unlimited call package (£5) and then the broadband charge. Bottom line - it 'might' be a good deal, but if you currently have the NTL 'triple play' (BB, Phone, TV) it will be a loat of hassle. The Sky deal is being discussed in more detail elsewhere on here - try 'Sky Broadband' in the search box ;) (This thread) |
Re: NTL or SKY Broadband
You may need to find out if your exchange is enabled for Sky Broadband as currently they are taking registrations of interest on a lot of exchanges. Personally I would see if the exchange was enabled and then watch for any fall out/ complaints about the service. If it stays quiet and the service seems stable then go for it.

Sky BB is already being discussed here: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ewpost&t=50076
No need for another one. Thread Closed. |
