Networking

Hey, Im trying to network me and my friends pc's / laptop and when i plug in the cable it says its still disconnected and when i try to use the wizard it says this:

The Network connections listed below are disconnected

And it has my lan card there, but i know it works as i used to use it for the net before i went wireless. Any ideas?
Thanks :D

Re: Networking

If you are connecting two PC's LAN ports directly, you will need a Crossover network cable

Well, I thought i could use the one that comes with the xbox 360 but it still says no wire is pluged in so can i use the one that comes with the cable modem with ntl? would that work if i simply unplugged it for a bit?

Re: Networking

Nope you need a crossover ethernet cable, which is not supplied as standard with most things PC.

Re: Networking

Or you can use a piece of straight cable with a crossover adapter at one end :)

expensive way of doing it though, unless you have the adaptor already :)

What do you mean which half?!?

Get a diagram for a patch cable and a diagram for a cross over, then match up the colours and connect them.

Google is your friend http://www.duxcw.com/digest/Howto/ne...ble/cable5.htm
