Wireless with NTL

Hi, I have recently taken up the bundle package form NTL. I didnt get the internet cabled through the house as I though I could do wireless. I bought a d link wireless router andi presumed everything would be plug and play, but cant get it set up and on their website in the faq it says cable provided internet wont work, is this true and if so how can I get wireless using the ntl service
many thanks

What model router do you have? What error messages are you getting when you try to connect?

cant recall, I have it ready to go back to the shop now, looking a bit more on here, I think i might need a wireless cable router as opposed to adsl

Yep any router that includes an ADSL modem won't work with cable. A simple broadband router should suffice. Explain to the shop that you do have a cable not ADSL broadband service. They should know what you need.

The linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS seems to be popular.

If you don't already have a wireless adapter for the PC you can get a Linksys USB adapter, such as the WUSB54G.
To recap, you need a router, eg Linksys WRT54G, and an adapter, eg WUSB54G. Some places sell router and apater bundles.
(Note - when setting the router/adapter up, it is best to have the PC connected to router via a LAN cable (one is supplied with WRT54G) - hopefully your PC has a LAN card!)

Yes, LAN cable = RJ45.

The Linksys website says the driver for the WUSB54G works with Win98 & WinME.

There is a setup CD with the WRT54G and the box lists WinME as supported, so it should work.
