ADSL question
Hi,
ADSL question! In our house we have a master BT socket in the hall and two extensions - one in the bedroom and one in the livving room. Can I plug the ADSL router into any of these sockets or does it have to be connected to the master socket? Cheers Lee |
Re: ADSL question
Any of them (AFAIK) but if you get problems test it in the master socket as that should be the best port. We used to make sure customers tested in the master socket just in case the extensions had been damaged or wired wrongly.

Re: ADSL question
Well if were to put my Ex-BT Business repair CS hat on I would say any socket would be ok to plug into, could always test them with a phone to make sure you have no line noise etc.

Re: ADSL question
But remember you'll need a microfilter on *every* socket - not just the one with the modem.

Re: ADSL question
If you have a telephone plugged in to all your points then yes, you will need a filter for everyone. If you only have a telephone plugged in to 2 out of 3 then you will only need a filter for those points you have telephones plugged in.

Re: ADSL question
OK - thanks - now just one more question....
In the living room we have one socket. Going into that socket will be a telephone and soon a Sky box.... Now - obviously we need a socket doubler and I assume we will need a filter for each socket as telephone will be in one and Sky box in the other - correct? Chers Lee |
Re: ADSL question
You will need a socket Doubler in that socket and a filter in before the doubler. You could put a doubler in first and 2 filters but what would be the point?

Re: ADSL question
Good point! Attach filter to socket and then doubler to filter....and engage brain in the process!
Would the filter coils cope with two devices on one connection? |

Re: ADSL question
Why should it be called a splitter when it filters out anything above 8KHz (Or something like that) away from the Telephone?
