Odd Samsung STB Update
I live in SE London in the DA7 postcode area. On Saturday morning I thought I'd reset my Samsung STB just to see if the 4 Meg upgrade had made it as far as here. I powered off the box and then back on again. The front display started running through a set of numbers 101..102 etc. and the TV displayed a message saying that the box was being updated and to please wait.
Odd I thought, surely the box doesn't need an update just to get faster speed and I didn't think it would be the VOD code yet. When it had finished cycling through the numbers the front display briefly showed what looked like ERR d6 (bit of a worry!) then PROG. After a while the box rebooted (it seemed to take longer than usual) but when it did everything seemed normal with no new functions etc. I've checked the software version (4.1), the mini guide is just the same as it was (blue, extending the full width of the screen), the on-demand still shows 'Movies about to start' etc. the built-in cable modem software is still stb-mid (as I would expect) and my internet speed is still 2Meg (actually I've been lucky to get as high as 1.3 recently). So I'm at a bit of a loss as to what it's done-probably nothing to worry about but I am just curious. Anyone have any ideas? Many thanks in advance. John |
Re: Odd Samsung STB Update
It just sounds like it took a while for the download to go through. You should be fine :)
