Moving House

Can I keep my number?

Re: Moving House

Maybe...

It depends how far away you are moving. You need to be on the same exchange, but i'm not sure if there are any other restrictions.

I don't see that it will be a problem but best to ask when you ring and tell them about the move

As long as the area you are moving to is served by the same switch that your present number is connected too there should be no problem..

Is it from NTL to NTL or to a different provider?

You should be able to do it with both usually.

If you are going to another provider like BT you need to open a BT account. They will come out and install you and give you a temp number. Once the number port has gone through (usually 10 days ) you will get your old number number.

If your going from NTL to NTL, same as >

For further queries have a word with CS : 0845 454 0000 option5 and they can tell you for sure either way.

If you are on the same exchange and switch they will try to re-claim your number.

How far you are moving is not always a good guide. Numbers are allocated to very specific areas, you could move one mile away and end up on a different switch. Just ask the agent requesting your move to be booked that they ask for the number re-reclaim to be noted on the work/service order.
