i use the d-link DL-524. handles 10mb through cables no problem. over wireless (and if you have a good wireless link) can handle 600K nicely. comes with all the cables and software you need. the interface is easy and port fowarding is easy you maintain and create. also comes with a 54mb wireless usb adapter and a handy usb extension cable.

but that was after a firmware flash (witch is easy to do). its nice and small and does the job well. but read up on other reviews just to see what other people have to say. i have no probs. but some people may have

hope that was helpfull to ya

I would reccomend the D-link DI-635M (MIMO). It is the first router I have gotten that does'nt disconnect whilst D/L large files. Very stable and, so far, 100% reliable.

Thanks - the D-Link DIR-635 looked a good option as I have a good area to cover as well. However, some of the reviews are not good?

Linksys WRT54G*

Excellent router, the newer GS version has 125mb wireless (if you have adapters that can handle the speed) built in 4 port switch, very easy to use web console for management, port forwarding etc and it even has the dynamic dns feature included whcih will update with your IP address should you ever need to RDP,FTP, Telnet etc back to your home setup.

Also, you can flash the firmware with others such as DD-WRT, which if will allow you to manage QOS better, turn your router in to a VOIP server...all crazy stuff.

Can pick them up in PC World for 40 quid.

:welcome: to the forum :)

I got the newer model with speed boost and it is a good steady router. However the controllers are nearly as expensive as the routers.Pc world were giving a usb adapter away with the router but I think this offer ended

TY zinglebarb, I've got the normal WRT54G, cracking router I have to say.

I'm thinking about getting another one so as I can mess around with these other firmwares that I've been reading about recently, just have to DMZ my current one and then have a bit play.

But definately a router I would recommend.
