problem with telewest wireless HELP ME!!!
 

Hi folks, now im not the best when it comes to computers so please be easy on me! I agreed to go wireless so i could put my pc in another room away from my cable modem, but i just dont have a clue how to set it up. I have a sumvision broadband router, ethernet cable and a usb dongle. Anyone care to give me an idiot guide step by step procedure on how to get it up and running. Ive also lost the pamphlet that come with the router. Ooops! Any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED! thanks

802.11b/g compliant is the standard it follows, we want to know the actual make and model of the router, like mine is made by Linksys and is a WRT54G.

Can you find us that info so we can help furthur?

As long as its got a wan then it will be easy.Turn off cable modem,and pc and plug modem into router.Turn on modem allow lights to settle plug pc into router switch on router once settled turn on pc. open a web page and browse to the ip given in manual 192.168.*.* and put passwords in. Once in router set up turn on wireless and find the section for secuirty.Deside which you want to use and set it up recording details such as key etc. Unplug pc from router and install wireless device and all beign well it will find a network, Apply key to pcs device and all should be done

my manual has been misplaced, cant find it anywhere, is there a default ip address? and what do you mean with passwords?

Physically pick up your router, look underneath for stickers, numbers printed on to the unit it's self, should tell you what model number your router is.

You can then google for the manual and get all the info you need.
