Do NTL still offer...

Hi,

At the risk of looking like an idiot, but I've trawled the ntlworld.com websites without success. Do NTL still offer 'just' broadband? I'm looking into possibilities for a connection for my father, he is already with BT and has their telephone number on all his letter heads, business cards etc. So doesn't require a telephone line, he has a freeview box so doesn't require the television channels. But he doen't have broadband and would like it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to be able to locate just that option on the ntl website.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks.

Since the BT Line is already in, it would surely make more sense to get ADSL of some sort?

512K Broadband is only £14.99* ** per month, and there is no need to take a phone line. Offer only available online until June 30th 2006.

eh?

I believe the answer is yes, you can just have broadband but you will have to get it at the full price. You can only get the current offer if you take the TV and phone line though.

I remember asking NTL if i needed a phone line or tv last year to keep having broadband and they told me i could just get broadband.

Please correct me if that's changed.

Oh yeah i get that to, didn't notice it before for some reason.

Then underneath the 512k for £14.99 it says upto 1mbit for £17.99

upto 4mbit for £12.49 for first 3 months then £24.99

upto 10mbit £17.49 for first 3 months than £34.99

there's a 1GB usage allowance/limit on the 512 product.

I signed up last month just for the broadband 10mbit, I recieved £10 off because of my order online plus three months half price :D I also have a bt phone line which had adsl on however I cancelled the adsl since it was always disconnecting because of bad signal rates.

BT wanted to charge me for an engineer to come out to fix the signal levels.

Just to supply some balance here BT only charge if there are issues due to internal house wiring. BT can't 'fix the signal levels' that's more something done with regards to cable type technology. If the wiring in your house is poor and stuffing noise onto your phone line they will charge for resolving it.

On the other hand they charge for fixing DSL only faults where it's causing slower than expected speeds or instability at certain data rates.

The cable advantage though, on DSL if you're miles from the exchange DSL can be 'precarious' and a bit of a lottery, not BT's fault just the laws of physics ;)

it appears the 512k rate is the only one were you dont need to also take the phonline, wonder if you could upgrade the BB rate after you join and are inside the system, just another one of NTLs strange ways, not being able to do it as you sign up perhaps ?.

no, this isn't true - you can pick any of the broadband options and not need to take the phoneline. what on that page makes you think otherwise?

the only thing is, that half price for 3 months offer is only available if you take a phone line from them.

Hm no you get 3 months half price without the need of a phoneline, I think theres a mistake on the website, when you go to confirm your order after you have entered your address and info it says your first 3 months will be half price.

Im already recieving my half price recieved the bill through email and all I took out was broadband.
