ASUS router to ntl problem... all help appreciated

Hi,
I'm hoping one of you wise sages can help.

I have a ASUS 530g wireless router and a NTL cable modem. Without the router, everything works fine. Problems start when I attach the router !!

I can ping from pc to router and is comes back OK. But when using nslookup the DNS times out. I have contacted NTL and they have given me 2 DNS address, but putting these in the setup has no effect.

So the problem is with DNS but I'm at a loss of how to fix it....

Any help greatly appreciated !!

Well now I feel silly !! Powering down and coming back up in that order worked. I've been trying for ages, changing settings and slowly tearing my hair out !!

Please tell me there's a techy reason why this works !!

Huge thanks !!
