Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
Easier way to get your key is to sign up with technet and just click vista preview.Gives you a key in seconds. The download links are busy at present though

I have a spare 80GB drive that I will install this onto. |
Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
Cheers for that Link Zinglebarb - got the product key just hope the downloads free up at some point!
Once i do get it though, i want to partition my hard drive, so that i can run Xp and Vista separately as i don't want it to effect anything on XP. Is this going to be simple? If so how do i go about partitioning the drive without losing anything? I assume once its partitioned i can just install Vista via my created DVD...? |
Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
How are you intending to partition the drive and save xp? are you using partition magic? another option would be to ghost xp ,partition drive then ghost back xp before installing vista.Remember Vista takes ages to install dont cut the install once it starts until the first reboot at least otherwise it will screw your boot up up :)

Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
Well not really sure how i was going to do it, are there any guides on the net i did a quick search but couldn't find anything specific.
Basically i just wanna do it as easily as possible without really losing any work, i mean i could just back everything up to my laptop or onto DVD, which might make things simpler, but id rather just keep it on the PC, and use a dual boot for both XP and Vista.. (If that's possible... ) Edit: Also wanted to do it for free or at least the cheapest and easiest way? (Sorry for all the questions!) Also has the download link worked for anyone yet? |
Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
use the link in post 1 but use a download manager like reget
Do you only have 1 hard drive? and it it whole? if this is the case you will need partition magic or norton ghost and burn to dvds I just took the download from post 1 past 100meg so if you use reget or getright it should be fine |
Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
Yeah I've only got one hard drive - a 120GB, got about 50GB free so i thought id use that, but as it looks like I'm going to have to get the software you mentioned it might just be easier (and cheaper) to get another hard drive? Could back up some work then as well..
Another point using that direct link and getright it says the download is 558MB, thats not right is it.. |
Re: Windows Vista Beta 2 Download Available
