As of tonight my modem ntl:home 100 has been cutting out way more than normal i mean nearly every time i go to a webpage the u/s and d/s lights go off then all lights follow, modem resets and briefly stays on again for few more minutes.

Sounds like a big issue then somewhere down the line. Call NTL to see if there are any faults in your area.
If that get's you nowhere, call the ghost busters.

I was getting that a lot, especially on Download.com or sites that load lots of data such as pictures, it cuts off, i'm on the 10Mbps service with a 120 modem.
