Any Help PLZZZ Danny Boy 69 |
Re: Help Networking Noob Here
Danny,
I'm afraid you need a router to share your NTL connection - not a switch. In the page you linked, the switch plugs into a router which in turn plugs into the Cable modem. The switch you have is designed to expand an existing router - ie from a router with 4 ports to a router with 3 ports plus switch with 4 more ports. The Netgear router is here. I hope you are able to return the switch :( |
Re: Help Networking Noob Here
you need a router, not a switch, to get two computers online at the same time, or have two ethernet cards in the main machine & connect up using the Internet sharing wizard, either way the switch could be used to connect the second PC & the printer, provided the printer has an ethernet interface.
- your link shows a diagram of a typical setup with a router & the switch. <edit> pretty much as Aragorn also said ;) |
