Wireless - WAN not getting IP address

i have just got a DLink Wireless router (DI-524)

I have set it up and can get to the control panel fine (192.168.0.1).

While setting up it all seemed fine and the WAN had the ip address etc assigned.

When i went to a web page it had the NTL Registration screen so i entered the Policy No etc. My computer was already added but i just added another one and changed my computer name.

I rebooted PC and tried to get online and getting no web pages.

I check the status and the WAN cannot get a IP address via DHCP. it just keeps trying and trying and then gives up

If i ipconfig i have an ip address - 192.168.0.165 etc

i cannot ping an www and have disabled all firewall etc.

i have rebooted pc and set top box a few times.

I just tested the normal connection using USB direct into PC and it works fine.

Any ideas??

thanks

Have you also rebooted the router?

Re: Wireless - WAN not getting IP address

i didnt reboot router - i went to reboot router and STB but unfortunately my STB is now knackered. Great timing.

I plug it in and its making mad electric noises and I can set sparks! EVen if i leave it it reboots itself

an engineer is coming out on monday

i am now on dialup to check some email.

now without any TV :( hopefully he comes early -due to come monday 12-6pm

i am out tonight and most of tomorrow so not too bad - could be worse!

Re: Wireless - WAN not getting IP address

You must reboot your router or it will not get the IP Address settings. That is the important part; your PC will get the settings from the Router and the router will get the settings from the STB.

Sorry to hear about your problems
