Which of these wireless routers should I choose

Greetings,
I'm a newbie on this issue. I have Telewest 4mb bradband. My modem is Motorola SB5100. I have a desktop and recently I bought a notebook. I want the desktop to be wired and the the notebook obviously will be wireless. There is also a printer that I would like to share.

I think all I need is a wireless router. I will have to connect the router with the ethernet cable to the motorola modem and then I will have to connect my pc with a usb cable to the router. Is this right?

On the sticky thread I have read that there are two types of wireless routers. Obviously I need the cable or broadband router and not the adsl one. But some product descriptions still confuse me. Some include the name braodband but at the same time it says dsl. So, what kind of router is this? Is it a cable one or an adsl one? Can you please check the following devices and tell me if they are suitable for me? Can you please make it as simple as yes and no. Afterwards could you tell me which ones among them should I consider? Thank you.

Partly, you got the router to modem right, it's just a Cat5 patch cable (ethernet) if i'm not mistaken.
However the printer connecting would require either a printserver, or, for it to be connected to one machine and to network them together.

I recoomend models number 2 and 3, as most of the members here have them and have no problems with them, they are decent pieces of kit.
(The WRT54G and WRT54GS ones that is)

Greetings,
would be number 5 fine as well?

I currently connect my PC to the motorola cable modem via usb because it doesnt work with the ethernet cable. I feel like this is going to be a problem. The routher should have usb ports for wired devices. I think none of these linksys has.

Why cant I connect with the ethernet cable in my current set up? Is it just me or is the way telewest broadband works? How do I solve this problem. I don't want my pc to be wireless.

OK, I managed to get it work with the ethernet cable. The drivers were not installed and therefore the ethernet adapter didn't work. I installed the drivers and solved the problem. Now I'm connected via the ethernet cable.

I guess either 2, 3 or number 5, the compact router should be fine.

Number 5 doesn't actually mention what type it is whether it be ADSL or Cable.

I'd stick with 2 or 3, plenty of support available on the forums here if something should go wrong.

Afaik, the WRT54GC is just a scaled down version of the WRT54G. It would work just as well as the WRT54G.
