Slow Wireless

Hi
i have a problem here
i got the Linksys WRT54GSUK (wireless router) and WUB54GSUK (USB wireless adapter)

the thing is im having real slow connection between the 2
in the windows icon (network status) says i keep dropping to 11.0mbps
and rarely anything over 18.0mbps
are those readings accurate??
the linksys monitor just says speedbooster

i have tried quite a few differant channels
and tried the linksys online support chat thing (not very helpful :dozey: )

i know theres a chance it could be interference
but is there anyway to make it better??
i know theres 3rd party firmwares
will those help??

Re: Slow Wireless

Whats in between the router and your PC? What are the distances? etc. etc.

Re: Slow Wireless

well the router is just outside my room just round a corner
the distance between router and adapter is well under 20metres
i have a metal bunkbed if that does anything to the signal
a TV,mobile phone in the room also using a bluetooth mouse/keyboard setup (logitech MX5000)
we also use digital cordless phone in the house (phone/receiver not in my room)

also we have a satalite dish (old 1 not Sky, still using) outside my window does that do anything??

BTW

i also using the same USB adapter for a differant PC downstairs
furter away from the router then my PC
thats not having much problems (that i know of, dont use that PC much myself)
i tried switching the USB adapter with that and i still getting same speed
so its not USB or the router itself

and i had to reinstall WinXP a week ago (Window had some problems)
so the only thing i can think of is some kind of interference

Re: Slow Wireless

The huge metal thing that is your bunkbed will most likely be your problem here.
