Cant find internet connection at all

Just got telewest broadband installed yesterday, i then proceeded to share it through a router, both computers connected fine. But now my computer doesnt seem to want to find the internet connection even though i set it up on that computer. I'm now doing this through the other computer which connects fine through the router.
There is no led showing on the router to say its connected but there is on this pc.

What the hell do i do? its baffling me!

:welcome: to Cable Forum :D

First thing I do when something odd happens is switch it all off, and reboot.

Presumably none of the leads have been disturbed and are all firmly fixed in their sockets.

As you have internet connectivity, but not router based performance, moving to Networking

Firewall, antivirus software, windoze patch? Something must have changed since last night if it was working

Re: Cant find internet connection at all

It is a router you are using, not a switch / hub? Confirm that by posting the make / model.

Any chance that the network card in the PC may have fried. If you were to connect it direct to the modem (no router, or other connections from the modem) does anything happen (modem needs to be powered off and then back on)

Silly question but have you tried plugging your cable on the router in to a different port?

Re: Cant find internet connection at all

it is a router, a linksys WRT54G. I have onboard LAN. Usually when i take the network cable out it says its disconnected, but not this time. I have tried it without any router but still doesnt work. And i have tried it in another port with no improvement.

If you check network connections on the computer is the network card enabled or disabled? Perhaps try reloading the drivers for it.

Re: Cant find internet connection at all

If it's still showing connected, even if the cable is removed, it HAS to be a fault with the PC hardware or software. If you've reloaded the drivers (using the most current ones available) then I'd pop out to your nearest computer shop and buy a cheapo replacement card, disable the current card and go from there.

dont know if this helps but, my pc decided to turn itself on late last night. Would this have something to do with it still being connected to the cable internet?

That's probably the WOL Wake-On-LAN feature triggering, it can be disabled in the BIOS.
