Packetloss issues
Hi there everyone.
I'm having a bit of a problem with packetloss at the moment, especially in the online games that I play. Whenever I do a trace on the server to see where the loss is coming from it states that 10.183.0.1, the second hop, is the one with the most packetloss. Am I right to assume that this hop is the first one at the ISP? I have run the docsdiag program at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/docsdiag/ and got the following results: Quote:
Other information that may be important; I have a Surfboard SB4100 Cable Modem & restarting it does not seem to help at all. I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on why this problem is occuring or possible fixes. Thankyou very much! |
Re: Packetloss issues
You are orrect to assume that is the first hop to the actual servers at Blueyonder.
And your power levels seem perfectly fine to me, mine run very close to that, and often hit 49dbmv as well. Nothing wrong with my 4Mb (nw i've got the network issue out of the way that is) |
Re: Packetloss issues
Acceptable power levels are:
Downstream power levels: between -8dBmV and +8dBmV Upstream: 30dBmV to 55dBmV (lower is better) SNR: 30dB to 37dB (higher is better) Yours look ok to me, upstream might be a little high but I dont think this is causing your problems. A call to telewest is probably in order if it continues. -Chris |

simpsonsFAN those values are all incorrect, disregard them. EDIT: Nevermind just seen a post of yours on Digital Spy where you quote different values. The ones in the sticky on this site are correct as per DOCSIS 1.1 specifications. |
