High pings to London server.
Well I have been having this problem on and off for a few weeks but ofcourse its not NTL its my router :erm: I think not the router is working perfectly.

If this is what NTL want then we should also have an online ticket system as ADSL ISPs have to allow us to have help using emails trying to tell some guy in far off country what your pings are is near impossible while it could be copied onto emails and show where the problems are. |

Yeah, getting the same.

Re: High pings to London server.
The main problem is this is intermitten the pings are high then after a few hours they reduce to a usable ping then while in a game they suddenly shoot up again.
Considering moving my phone to BT then if it continues I can at least get ADSL quicker. |
Re: High pings to London server.
Getting exactly the same problem. Have been for about a week, I wish I saw this topic first though as I just posted here: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=45770

Re: High pings to London server.
This is a problem with man-bb-a.inet.ntl.com
It looks as though they've either switched its' routing protocols off or are restarting them at the mo as it's no longer being propogated on the ntl network. Tracing route to man-bb-a.inet.ntl.com [194.145.149.23] 6 195.50.116.197 reports: Destination host unreachable. EDIT: Forgot to say, this means that no traffic will be traversing this node now so the problems should have gone away. |
Re: High pings to London server.
Yes for now its a lot better

Re: High pings to London server.
There is a problem here
Code:
9 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms redb-ic-1-as0-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.174.138] Code:
8 39 ms 70 ms 28 ms bre-bb-a-so-000-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.172.149] But I don't know when Germany started getting bad. I know its not me, as the four others on my team were having the same problem. Tried gameservers.net aswell now in nl - Code:
Tracing route to www.gameservers.net [62.212.83.150] |
Re: High pings to London server.
Yes I found German servers to be good normally but I h ave never had high pings to the London one till a few weeks ago and it has been NTL but now seems to be level3 in London.
What is a bitter pill to swallow is paying to report it and being told its my end!! |
Re: High pings to London server.
I have also been having problems today regarding high pings caused by:

Don't hold out any hope of NTL sorting it out though! To them we all have faulty routers no doubt!!! :td: |
Re: High pings to London server.
Our connection to Germany and Holland has been pretty terrible today... just our luck that the main UT2004 servers we use are located there :(

Re: High pings to London server.
I have noticed the last 2 days things have improved here in terms of speeds, also routing is more direct for instance I can now go over level3 in london without going upto manchester first.

Perhaps the old leicester routing has been moved over to a different region :D |

So dunno looks as though traffic was manually rerouted around as your trace now traverses Dublin to get to London. Maybe someone from ntl will be kind enough to let us know what happened. It looks at first inspection like their (all manual, that's why I called the MPLS overlay dodgy) traffic engineering went pearshaped and congested links. |
Re: High pings to London server.
Last night trying to play a game I was very jumpy with pings bouncing around from 20 to 170 if they had reached 200 I wouold have been kicked by the server for the high pings. Those I was playing against never had a ping above 33 on ADSL.
