Erm can you explain a bit further as to what you want to do and what "channel" you want to change?

its not recomended that you tamper with the settings of the modem, because you would be breaking the T&Cs of the rental of your broadband internet connection.

 Not sure about being against the law,but any sort of tampering with cc equipment is certainly against the T&C.

you are not breaking the law.

its a specified and somewhat overused stop gap used by techsupport (who get anyone in the "pockets" of congestion to use.

if u have a surfboard the address is for ur modem :
http://192.168.100.1/config.html

change range depends on area - here ie dundee 1-4 varies on usage.

since so many folks know how to use newsgroups now - everything getting hammered.

Depending on your area and the type of kit Telewest are using you'd have the option of either 1-3, 4-6 or 1-4.

For the curious a swift google of MC16, MC28 and microsegmentation will tell you the geeky details.
