Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
I've just come back form a weeks holiday, turned back on the modem and computer and I have a new ip, the proxies have gone, but speeds are awful (sub 100k everywhere on my 10 meg connection)
Should I report it as a fault ? |

I'm sure that it is not a fault & that it was the service that you signed up for. |

Neil, you evil swine! |
Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
Heh, looks to be more like a DNS problem, using another isp's fixes it, normal speeds have returned, have the proxies gone for good, or just a temp turn off in this area ?

Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
I doubt the proxies have gone - the whole point of them is to save NTL money in the long run. It is probably just a local DNS fault that will come back soon.
It's a Wednesday - that means its DDOS day for NTL these days! |
Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
proxes are defenitly still on here, I ran a test on netmonitor and it queried the proxy instead (the joys of these things).
Interestingly the proxy had to do restransmits (bad) and I also noticed ntl have enabled timestamping which in my experience causes missing images on pages. |
Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
I want to upgrade to 10mb, from what i hear it's not worth it though.

Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
The poplar proxies appear to be off atm.

Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
poor speed here in P'boro too. Maintain 1-1.5mb on a 2mb service. Used to get 2Mb all of the time

Re: Awful speeds and proxies gone ?
There should be a trial period to NTL customers who want to upgrade
