Cannon ip4000 inkjet

I been recommended to get one of these but its proving hard to find.

Theres a ip4200 model but that has no compatible cartridges available so its expensive to fill and we need it for fair volume cdr printing for our software.

Are there any other recomendations for good resolution inkjet printing to cdr?

cheers hm

Normally retails around £80 though :(

We have bought the Canon IP5200, which is higher up the range so I guess would handle CDRs just as well (if not better). It comes with a CDR adaptor for inserting into the print head area anyway. I've not tried it though.

The printer itself is excellent, we have had very good results printing both documents and photos.

I ended up getting an IP4200 figuring that worst comes to worst each 50 cdr including the cost of a new printer cost only £1.40 each. Of course its going to be cheaper because we'll get a better yield from the ink carts and we won't be throwing the printer away.

I've got the IP4200 and it's a fantastic printer.

I've not tried the cdr printing yet, but normal printing is fast (duplex is handy), and photo printing is stunning, I can't tell it from a normal photo :tu:

Based on the very good reviews I have seen, I am interested in this printer. The downside is that it uses 5 cartridges which average about £10 each - I doubt if you'll get away for less than £45 for a full set.

Because the cartridges are chipped, there's not much in the way of third party alternatives. The few that are available require you to you to reuse the chips from the OE cartridges. Of the 2 firms that I have spoken to, one admitted that their rechipped products had problems with the iP5200 and the instructions supplied with the other used phrases like "Remove the chip carefully from the OEM cartridge using a blade" which does not give me a very warm feeling.

I suppose that there's always the refill route, but I don't really fancy this.

However, I am still tempted. Have you had it long enough now to get a feel for cartridge lifetimes and expense?
