2nd 512K took 3875 ms = 132.1 KB/sec, approx 1089 Kbps, 1.06 Mbps
3rd 512K took 4172 ms = 122.7 KB/sec, approx 1011 Kbps, 0.99 Mbps
4th 512K took 5703 ms = 89.8 KB/sec, approx 740 Kbps, 0.72 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 971 Kbps, 0.95 Mbps

2nd test

2nd 512K took 4891 ms = 104.7 KB/sec, approx 863 Kbps, 0.84 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2593 ms = 197.5 KB/sec, approx 1627 Kbps, 1.59 Mbps
4th 512K took 3078 ms = 166.3 KB/sec, approx 1370 Kbps, 1.34 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 1285 Kbps, 1.25 Mbps

Can anyone see whats wrong with this picture?

My speed for web browsing and downloading is pants. I can sometimes reach 500KB/sec on newsgroups (giganews). Mosdt times 200KB/sec tops. Is there anyone else who still has the old style modem?

PS Im gonna give NTL an ear full tommorow. Sick n tired of putting up with this B.S

Pretty sure that modem is not capable of 10meg. Tell tect support you have a ambit 100

The stupid thing about it is i was getting full 10mb when i was first upgraded.

Used the newsgroups from ntl got 1280KB/sec. But even then i would get connection loss.

Its just the past month or so the speeds been terrible. I can understand ntl not be able to give everyone a new modem but im just peed off that im paying 35 quid a month for something im not getting

Also off topic, had a look at that UKonline, looks good and id go for it straight away, but i dont have a bt phone line or any phone line for that matter. Bit of a bummer

Funnily enough I've been havening similar speed problems with my ntl:120 the past few days (Fleet, Hants). If it's still bad at the end of the week I'll probably get on the blower to CS myself.

I dont think the modem would cause you to only get 10% of max speed tho the modem is defenitly capable of higher and I would be surprised if a modem swap fixed that.
