My broadband looses its synchronization
Hello
For a week now, every day (2-3 times/day) my broadband looses its synchronization and i have to reboot the modem in order to get connected. My problem is that other ppl are on the network and they have to wait until i get home and reboot the modem as it is in my room. I called NTL broadband support. They told me that i have to call them when my connection is not working, that was not a big problem as a couple of hours later my modem failed to synchronize again, so i called them. I said again the story, the lady asked me to reboot the modem which i did , and of course the line was synchronized now. And here it comes...."Ok Mr XXXXX now everything seems fine" I explained to her that my modem looses its synchronization 2-3 times per day and she answered that she cannot sent an engineer around as my line is working!! Upstream transmit Power Level : 50.0 dBmV Downstream SNR : 34.5 dB My modem stats look ok. Here are some errors from modem's log: Time Not Established Time Not Established 8 Critical(3) 68000300 DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.Time Not Established Time Not Established 1 Critical(3) 82000200 No Ranging Response received - T3 time-outTime Not Established Time Not Established 1 Critical(3) 68000300 DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response. Re: My broadband looses its synchronization
I may be wrong but the power levels seem excessively high there? In which case there most definitely is a problem with your signal levels or the modem itself.

Re: My broadband looses its synchronization
OK i looked here http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=26006 about cable modem signal levels and i copy paste mine:
Downstream Receive Power Level : -4.2 dBmV Downstream SNR : 34.6 dB Upstream transmit Power Level : 50.0 dBmV According to this guide the only "strange" value is Downstream Receive Power Level : -4.2 dBmV which should be +- 3dBmV. |
Re: My broadband looses its synchronization
I thought the Upstream seemed a tad on the high side. Perhaps someone more knowledgable will be along soon.

Re: My broadband looses its synchronization
My connection has been playing up today... Connection drops, reboot the modem and everything is fine again. I am using an old Surfboard 4100 in the Colchester area. Don't think your problem is power. Had a similar problem a few weeks ago. Been on holiday for 2 weeks so don't know what it has been like in between...
