How to set up a home network through wireless
Hi there,
Got a wireless laptop upstairs, and want to get my printer downstairs (connected to the wireless router through my PC, which is connected through an ethernet cable) to print off work from the laptop upstairs. had a go at doing it myself, but to no avail! any help will be gratefully received! Many thanks, |
Re: How to set up a home network through wireless
Just to clarify, do you have a router with a built in print server to which you have connected the printer? in which case, what are the make and model of router and printer?
Or is the printer connected to the pc downstairs. In which case, are you using Windows XP? Is file and printer sharing turned on? have you installed the printer drivers on the laptop? |

what have you done so far?
Have you shared the printer on the downstairs pc? |
Re: How to set up a home network through wireless
Printer at the min is connected to the main PC through USB port - what do you mean by 'sharing' the printer?
Also attempted to set up a network through the network connections (control panal) through the windows Xp wizard - didn't work however! |
Re: How to set up a home network through wireless
Getting closer...
When i attempt to install the network through my windows xp cd, a list connections come up, eg ethernet and a load of jargon, telling me manufacturer of the drive etc, but the wireless card which works for internet is not displayed! Does this therefore mean that i cannot use the wireless for my network carrier? Many thanks, |
